Mitä voit ostaa eurolla Ugandassa? Montakin asiaa, mutta me olemme ostaneet kierrätyspaperia. Yhdellä eurolla saamme vanhoja julisteita 2,5 kiloa (noin 78 kappaletta). Paperit leikataan ohuiksi liuskoiksi, jotka rullataan paperihelmiksi (6084 pieneksi tai 4316 suurempikokoiseksi). Näistä helmistä voi tehdä 203 kaulakorua (tai 143 suuremmista helmistä). Korut voidaan myydä 265 eurolla (tai isommat 280 eurolla). Ainoa ongelma on, että helmentekoon kouluttamamme lesket, HIV-positiiviset henkilöt, vammaiset ja hädänalaiset tarvitsevat tuotteilleen markkinoita. Voitko sinä auttaa löytämään niitä? What can you get with 1€?
What could you buy with one euro in Uganda? There are many things that one could buy, but we have been buying recycled paper. For one euro, you can buy 2.5 kilos of old posters (about 78 pieces). These papers are cut into thin strips that are rolled into beads (6,084 small beads or 4,316 larger sized beads). From these beads one can make 203 necklaces (or 143 necklaces from the larger beads) which could be sold for 265€ (or 280€ if you make necklaces from the larger beads).
The only problem that we have is that the widows, people living with HIV, the disabled and the destitute that we have trained to make beads from this paper need to get a market to sell them. Are you the person we need to talk to? (By the way, all profits are used to help the poor)
